This week has been extra fun at Staples-Motley Schools! The Middle/High School had a blast celebrating Cardinal Days both on-site and at Camp Shamineau, wrapping up the week with some Cardinal Pride with the elementary school this afternoon. Our elementary students had an outdoors experience with our local fire department as part of Fire Safety Month. Our students were active, with youth football on a roll in Community Education, and high school volleyball spiking Crosby-Ironton in their first home match of the season, 3-0! It has been another exciting week to be a Cardinal!
Across the district we are currently conducting a community survey to gather input on our long-term facilities planning. The future of our school facilities needs to be the right fit for our community. This survey is one of many ways that our long-term facilities committee is gathering community feedback. The committee will use these results to inform decisions and recommendations made to the school board in the future. Please make sure to take the survey if you haven’t already, and ask your neighbors to please share their input, too!
Lastly, we continue to monitor the spread of COVID-19 within our school district boundaries in consultation with our local county health officials. At this time, we will continue with in-person learning. Our county health officials are asking all community members to do their part in reducing the spread of COVID-19 by “wearing a mask in public, staying home when you or a family member is sick, and keeping your family and social gatherings small. If you do test positive for COVID or are in close contact with someone who tests positive, please stay home.”
Thank you to all our families for partnering with us to keep our students healthy, in school, and able to participate in activities! Your efforts are the very reason we remain in in-person learning today, and we humbly ask for your continued vigilance in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
Have a great weekend, and don’t forget that next Thursday and Friday there is no school for MEA weekend!
