Outstanding Youth Award

Congratulations to our very own senior Cole Winkels for receiving the honor of Staples-Motley Area Community Foundation‘s “Outstanding Youth” award earlier this week.

“I’ve known Cole Winkels for 8 years as Principal and Activities Director.  From our experiences together I can say with confidence that Cole is a dedicated student-athlete, artist, activities participant and leader in all. When he’s involved, we’re all the better for it.

I’m pleased to share that he’s a loyal son and brother who models’ his family values on a daily basis as witnessed via his interactions with the staff and his fellow students. In addition, his faith is strong, as is his volunteering within his church, Sacred Heart and community. He’s a balanced, polite and caring young man. He’s a constant regarding volunteer efforts and youth activities within the Staples-Motley community. He enjoys being a part of civic efforts…you can see his pride for our community. Cole looks to assist in his daily life, it’s a part of who he is. He’s a helper and relied upon often. He’s never said “no”, to my knowledge.

Cole’s work ethic transfers flawlessly to the classroom, football, basketball and baseball, theater and fine arts.  In the classroom he maintains a superior GPA. As a member of our Student Council, he’s been instrumental in a cultural transformation within our High School’s student involvement.

He’s driven to succeed; frankly, it’s what he expects of himself. His ability to connect with those around him and generate enthusiasm has endeared his student colleagues for years, as well as, the adults he works with and for. Cole’s a trusted student-colleague of mine and our staff. Students such as Cole are what inspire educators and administrators.“
